Kota

The moment I saw Kota (formerly BamBam) on petfinder I knew I needed her in my life. I called Cynthia immediately and filled out an application in hopes that I would be approved to be her new fur mama. I was told that Kota has sustained an ACL injury in Lebanon that would need to be surgically corrected before she was able to fly over to Canada. I was willing to wait for however long I needed to wait, I just wanted her here with me. Right before her surgery, the COVID pandemic caused travel to come to a hault. Although disheartening, I was constantly assured she was in good hands and she definitely was! I was updated with weekly pictures, and I couldn’t wait to bring her home. After a long 6 months of waiting for Kota to come home, I finally got the text that she would be flying into the Montreal airport in less than a week. We quickly prepared to pick her up, and made the 7 hour drive there and back in one day. Bringing Kota home was bittersweet... we were so excited to have her, but she proved to be terrified of her new surroundings. She quickly warmed up to us all, and now I’m not able to go anywhere without her following me like my own shadow. Kota is a goofy soul, who loves her people, carrying her bone around the house, and dissecting her stuffed animals until she can get the squeaker out. We are still working out some quirks like her separation anxiety and her unwillingness to walk on a leash anywhere but the nature trails. Although we are still working with her to ensure she is more confident, she is the best dog I could have ever asked for. I thank Cynthia and the entire RDL-C team/family for their endless support and dedication. I can’t wait to adopt again and give Kota a new brother or sister!
