SKYE is currently in Lebanon. Once we find an adopter for him, he will come to Canada.
SKYE is a big love ball! He truly is a sweetheart and has mellowed out over the years. He doesn't mind other dogs and cats but is more of a loner preferring the company of his favorite humans. He can be a little shy but he's also very polite as he will quietly settle into his favorite spot and watch the action around him without interfering.
This sweet LouLou was originally given up by his first owner when the owner had a baby. He was given to a home that already had 3 very large dogs, untrained and used to living outdoors in the garden. Two days after SKYE arrived at his new home, one of the large dogs bit him on the neck so hard it fractured. RDL-C took him to do an MRI and it showed that he suffered multiple fractures to the neck.
He received all of the medical treatments he needed and as the updated pictures show, he is fully healed now.
SKYE was also abused by the man of his first home but loved by the wife. To this day, he tends to prefer women. That said, he will respond positively to men who show him affection and approach him in a gentle manner (see some of the videos). It just takes a little more time for SKYE to get used to a man. As a younger, scared and anxious dog, SKYE did bite his new foster at the time. He was still traumatized by the attack that injured his neck. He is a changed boy now and has not displayed that behaviour since. He grew up into a very calm and mild-mannered gentleman who enjoys leisurely walks and napping.
In his youth, SKYE did guard some of his toys or food. Fosters have worked with him on this issue and it has completely disappeared. Now, if another dog takes his food or toy, he may bark a little but then will just walk away.
SKYE has become a sweet, mellow gentleman who enjoys quiet time close to his humans. This boy would be perfect as an only dog for a calm household with more sedentary individuals.
