The dog that inspired RDL-C Boomer’s Incredible Journey (aka Lt. Dan)

Help rescued dogs to remain safe, cared for until they find a forever home…

BOOMER (Lt. Dan) was and always will be the most special dog who became the inspiration and reason why RDL-C came to be.

In Nov/Dec of 2016, my cousin Muna B. who lives in Jordan contacted me to help a badly injured dog after she and friend Sandy M. rescued him.  His back legs had been brutally chopped off on purpose by a monster, and he was left to suffer alone on the street.

A GoFundMe raised just enough funds to fly him over to Canada.  He arrived to Montreal, then Critter Cabs Transport drove him to Toronto and I had the honour to welcome him.  ‘Save Our Scruff’ took over his case.  He had to have further surgery on his hind legs as they were causing him pain and was unable to move around, dragging the weight behind.  Soon after, he found a most special home with Dani who had several dogs and ran a doggy daycare.  She renamed him Lt. DAN. absolutely loved it there.   His bestie was a Heeler named Nana.  After about a couple of years, he sadly needed to find a new home, so he went to a local rescue.  This rescue sadly did not understand him well, and re homed him to a couple that was less than ideal for him.  He suffered there, being locked up in a room most of the days.

Dani and I fought hard and took him back, and through a common rescue contact, found him a most wonderful home with Brandy in Georgia / USA.  She welcomed him with open arms.  He lived in her dog sanctuary for disabled dogs, and he made friends with a dog much like him named Sophia!   They played together every day and she is now missing him very much because on Oct 7th, due to a sudden illness, he passed away in his sleep.

To some he is ‘BOOMER’, and to others he is Lt. DAN, but no matter what his name is, he will always be the most special dog who inspired a small rescue that to date, has helped over 700+ rescue dogs and some disabled cats to find kindness in loving forever homes in Canada.

We love you Boomer / Lt. DAN
