3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months - PIPER

3 days, 3 Weeks, 3 Months

Today, is 3 months since Piper came into our home.

Every time I spoke with Cynthia Ashkar over the last 3 months, she would keep encouraging me to post online about Piper but I was waiting for the 3 month mark, for Piper to truly feel at home and post a big update. Sorry for taking so long Cynthia

This is my first time having a dog at home and I can tell you I was not ready for the massive change it would bring to my life and lifestyle. I remember Shilpa and I went through a series of panic attacks and the “puppy blues” and even called Cynthia in panic on the first day, but all we needed to do was give it time and be consistent. Today, we can’t imagine our house without Piper, and she has become an inseparable part of our family.

It’s been a lot of learning for us in the last 3 months, but we had the best people to reach out to, who helped us through this entire process. Many thanks to Cynthia and everyone at RDL-C who went out of their way to give us their advice and help with every little thing we asked for.

Thanks to Stephanie Barbeau and Amanda at the Fusion Canine Center, who taught us how to communicate with Piper and still continue to shape her progress and help socialise her with other dogs at their day care. Also, thanks for letting me sit and work at the centre when Piper and the other dogs are driving you guys mad!

Many friends of ours who reached out to give us so much guidance and support, especially our friend Nayima, who told us what to expect and showed us the way.

We moved from Toronto to Montreal 6 months ago without any friends in this city, and now we know so many people and have become acquainted with our neighbours who all have dogs. In fact our backyard has now become a private dog park with neighbours dogs and Piper running around and playing! If anyone wants to bring their dog over to our yard for a run around, please come over. We’ll keep our fridge stocked with some cold beers and some Indian snacks ready

We’ve grown to love Piper and I think she likes us too and I fully recommend this to everyone!
