Oscar - 2024

Currently in Lebanon — available for adoption once he has recovered from his upcoming surgery.

Oscar is a sweet, affectionate young dog with an incredible story of survival. Despite everything he has endured, he has remained gentle, playful, and eager to connect with the people and dogs around him. He can be cautious when faced with a completely unfamiliar environment, but when he feels safe, his happy puppy personality comes shining through.

His Story
Oscar's story is one of survival against incredible odds. He was found in downtown Beirut alongside his mother, Margo, during the war. Barely able to walk and struggling to breathe, this tiny puppy had also suffered abuse at the hands of local teenagers.

Oscar was rushed to the hospital, where veterinarians discovered a hernia along with multiple fractures to his leg and hip. He underwent major femoral surgery to save his leg, and despite the pain he had endured, this little boy fought his way through recovery.

Not long afterward, Oscar faced another serious challenge when he contracted parvovirus. Once again, he pulled through.

Today, Oscar is growing into a resilient and affectionate young dog. His most recent check-up confirmed that his femoral fracture had healed beautifully. However, because of the complexity of his original injury, he is currently undergoing imaging and measurements for a second follow-up surgery to address his hind leg and help ensure the best possible mobility and comfort for his future.

What He Needs
Oscar is still a young dog, and much of the world is completely new to him. His recent Doggy Date showed just how much his confidence depends on his surroundings.

Although he was unsure at first with all the new sights and experiences. With some treats and time to process everything around him, he slowly became more comfortable. Then came his favourite part of the day: a walk in nature. Outside in a calmer environment, Oscar seemed much more at ease. He explored with curiosity, walked beautifully on leash, and frequently looked back at his handler as if checking in for reassurance and guidance.

Back at the boarding facility, where his surroundings are familiar, Oscar's personality really shines. He becomes more confident, playful, and full of that happy puppy energy that is so endearing.

Oscar has already fought through abuse, serious injuries, hospitalization, and parvovirus, yet he has somehow held onto his gentle and loving nature. He doesn't need someone to change who he is. He simply needs a family willing to give him the time, patience, medical care, and love he deserves.

Once Oscar knows he is safe, there is a happy, playful young dog waiting to come out—and he has so much love to give in return.
