KOBE - Update 2025 (in foster care in Canada)

KOBE is currently being fostered in Puslinch, Ontario.
KOBE is really blossoming since he arrived to Canada. His foster describes him as equal parts goofball, loyal shadow, and occasional shoe thief! He is a perfect mix of puppy playfulness and emerging adult calm. Still a bit cheeky, but listens well (unless there is a squirrel in the mix) and comes when called.
KOBE was born on the streets of Lebanon. He had a rough life and by the time he was rescued he was in bad shape: He was emaciated and dehydrated and had mange. GAEA Animal Welfare and RDL-C partnered to help him. KOBE received much needed vet care, food, water and shelter. His brother PAX made it as well but unfortunately his mother was found lifeless, killed by humans. The third sibling was in such bad shape that he died at the vet. This recue was very stressful and occurred over multiple days as locating all four dogs took time. Thankfully GAEA rescuers never gave up and KOBE is safe and healthy now.
KOBE is smart and quirky! He watches TV and barks at it. When it's time to go outside, he trots out, makes a quick circle, and heads straight back to the door to be with you. You have to send him back out with a "go potty" at which point he'll reluctantly handle business, then rush right back in (and yes, he goes potty on command - impressive!) He is affectionately described as part goat (yard cleaner of fallen fruits) and part cat (he'll bury his head into you and purr when cuddled or kissed.) He is a shameless shoe thief who turns stolen goods into an acrobatic show as he keeps himself entertained by joyfully running and throwing shoes or boots in the air. KOBE is truly one of a kind!
Personality: Friendly, social with people, social with dogs, affectionate, playful, trusting, calm, confident, submissive at home but can be reactive toward other dogs on leash.
KOBE would benefit from a fenced backyard for exercise and would do well with another playful dog. He walks beautifully on leash, almost at a heel, with zero training. KOBE loves car rides and is always ready for his next adventure!
